When looking for the author/sponsor of a website some places to go would be an About Us or Contact Us link. If these are not available or do not contain detailed information, one final thing you can do is to look up who owns the website at something like whois.net. But yes, typically if you cannot find any information on who the author or sponsor is of a site it hurts the credibility as you cannot get an understanding of why they are presenting the information and what qualifications they have to present the information.
